So Giles and I dug up Wimey’s body and retrieved his skull. It still has dirt on it and so on but we have a full set of molars on one side of the upper jaw which makes me very happy.
At some point we will try and get the rest of his bones from there and also do his brother.
I might take pictures once he’s more cleaned off.
My darling Wimey just passed on… I’m glad it was quick.. He was fine yesterday and this morning.. Middayish he starteed looking dull, blood in urine.. And he just had a mini seizure and died… I think it might have been some form of organ failure..
I kind of expected it as he was getting on in age… and was slowing down and so on… But still.
I’m not sure what to do.
wimey is doing lots better.
He was still droopy this morning, so I made a vet appointment for after uni and rushed home, he was bouncing around then..
Took him to the vet, she gave him fluid injections, to make sure he was hydrated, looked for any lumps or anything, couldn’t find any, his breathing was fine, temperature was fine.
So she was thinking that it may have been him eating something that disagreed with him, or having a blocked digestive track.
basically, force feed him if I have to, and then call her tomorrow.
so I gave him natural yogurt and blended meat stuff and a couple of bits of vegetables and he ate them out of the spoon…
So.. i dunno. It freaks me out how they can be nearly lifeless one night, then bouncing in circles the next.
.____.
I’m freaking out. Had a fight with a friend, which is unresolved because she went to sleep.
then I go to cuddle the rats, having been away all day due to school; Wimey’s not doing well….
He’s dull-eyed, and cold, and not interested in food or water… His hind legs have been kinda blech for the past couple of months..
I estimated he and his brother’s ages at about three months when I got them.. Is suspect they may have been older and he’s now about 2 years 4 months, or so.
And I’m freaking out.
I don’t know what to do, I don’t know how to help him. It’s 11:31pm, I have uni all day tomorrow, no time to take him to the vet.
He doesn’t seem to be in pain, I cuddled him for a bit, and got him to brux, ended up putting him back in his cage with some food and water to try to get him to do something. He just crawled to the corner of the cage.. which is what he was doing before.
Do rats seperate themselves when they die? Like dogs or cats?
I suspect I should just leave him, he doesn’t seem to be in pain or anything.. I just hope he passes peacefully in the night, his breathing is fine, just slow..same with his heart rate…
I don’t know how to deal with this.
Help.
